My second baby (now 17 months old) now signs more, milk, water, all done but he also talks amazingly well compared to my first at this age and I started signing with him much earlier, so he grasped the communication concept earlier.
Emma is a signing machine. She is constantly surprises me with how many signs she knows. She also talks really well and I'm constantly getting remarks from people who are surprised at how well she talks and how big of a vocabulary she has. I totally credit it to signing.
She knows all the letters if I sign them to her and if I sign short sentences to her (nice to meet you, see you later, what's your name) she will repeat them verbally without me saying them.
Honor's a great signer! She's to the point where I can show her a sign once (& if she's interested) she picks it up right away (like with 'butterfly'!) She's not a big talker yet so I'm so very glad we learned to sign but I do notice how amazing her comprehension of words and things is - which I am sure is do to learning to communicate earlier!
It took a while, but we are FINALLY signing. Thomas is 14 months, knows more, all done, milk, eat, drink, tired, and 4 of his favourite fruit signs. Singing has been so helpful, Maria (nanny) is even learning to help teach him while I'm at work! We miss your classes!! Hope to catch up soon
In this past month or so Emmit (now 16 months) has started signing water, sleep, bath, brush teeth, bird & hat! It's so exciting to be able to communicate with him, particularly with naps/bed time - often he tells us he's ready for bed before we would expect him to be tired. Sometimes he even makes our hands sign "sleep" when he thinks we're all going to bed And whenever anyone mentions bath/bathroom/shower, he starts signing, and I can tell how proud he is to join in on the conversation!
